The DJ Competition at InkFest Live hosted by WATC!
Inkfest Live - WATC (We Are The Champions) Sports is a national, preeminent, and professional league of the highest caliber DJs/Athletes and Teams. The purpose of WATC Sports is to highlight and promote the art of turntablisim as well as introduce the CompetitiveTurntablisim and Party Rock as a sport. IFL- WATC hosts several competitions throughout the U.S. for the public allowing the top DJs in the country to compete for Cash Prizes, The IFL- WATC Championship Belt and other prizes.
Our goal is to provide the ultimate entertainment in dj competitions to fans of all cultures. The IFL- WATC World DJ Competitions are hosted by WATC Commissioner & Tour DJ Claude Whitfield AKA Vincent Whitfield.
Set up:
2 DJ set ups, on the right and left for competition DJs and 1 in the middle for the House DJ.
Host will call the DJ that is up and the DJ that is next. The DJ that is next should be ready by the time the other DJ is done. There will be a 5 sec count down from the host.
Equipment Failure:
Incase of Equipment failure during your set. You will be given an opportunity to restart should you choose.
Equipment used:
2 Technics, Rane 57 mixer and or a Vestax, (Ortofon Cartridges, you may bring your own cartridges/headphones) Serato is NOT Allowed, this competition is strictly Vinyl.
All IFL-WATC Battles will be held on Sun. Each DJ will be asked to pay a registration fee of $15 which will include their admission to the event. DJs may also sell tickets to make some money should they Choose (Please email for details) All ages welcomed 21+ to indulge.
All DJs participating in the 2011- IFL WATC World DJ Comp. will be posted online for online voters to vote for their favorite DJ. This winner will be announced and will go last in the " Qbert Scratch Round"
Djs will be judged on Performance , Originality , Technique , Crowd Response , and Creativity. (Of these 5 judging factors, a dj can earn up to 10 points, and down to 1 point per each category. (Example, a perfect score would be a 50).
Qberts Scratch Round- 30 seconds
Djs will play a track of their choice and will have 30 seconds to "Freestyle Cut" over that beat.
The points awarded to each dj will move on with them to Round Two. According to the points given in the "Qbert Scratch Round" the dj's will be assigned in order by there points. (Example , if a dj only got 1 point, he/she will go first, dj's with 10 points will go last.
If multiple dj's have the same score, then the order will be by alphabetical order.) (Example, A&B both have 7 points then A would go first. Once the order is determined, each dj will enter into the second round.
Second Round - DJs will battle "Head 2 Head" style for 2 rounds each @ 90 seconds each round.
*****The Dj's with the lowest scores will be eliminated in the Second Round. 3-5 DJs will advance to the Finals to compete for the Cash Prize and more.
The Final round - 2 minutes -one round
Once Djs enter into this round it's anybody's game. The Final DJs will start at 0 points and may the Best Set Win!
